This week in ake ake we are learning all about the letter 'D'. It would be awesome if you could talk about this at home with your children the 'D' sound, words beginning with 'D' and practising writing both capital and lowercase 'D'.
Here are some Youtube links of some of our favourite phonics songs we do in class.
Phonics Song 2
This last song is not phonics but it's a favourite at fruit time!

*A special notice*
We would like to wish Aileen a very happy birthday for Sunday, we hope you had a great day :)

Kia Ora koutou!
Term 2 has so far, been very busy and exciting! We are finally at home in our very own classroom, and have been joined by our lovely student teacher - Miss Price. We have had Swim week, New Zealand sign language week, Samoan language week and this month we are learning about Matariki - Maori new year.
Here are some photos of what we have been up to so far.
Swim week was a highlight this term:

When we first moved into our new room, we had no furniture! Mrs H made us some "desks" on the floor. We were so excited when Darryl arrived with some brand new, colourful desks and chairs to brighten up our room. It was like Christmas!
During Samoan language week, we learned about the work of the famous artist Samoan Fatu Feu'u. He loves to paint beautiful Frangipani flowers in his artwork, so we thought we would give it a go too!

Nga mihi nui - thanks for visiting our blog! Keep checking back for regular updates.
